About Belinda M Designs

Belinda McNeely, owner of Belinda M Designs, was raised on a sheep and cattle station in New Zealand where she learned how to sew, knit, spin and weave at a very young age. Although Belinda has been sewing her entire life, at age 49, she decided that her true calling is in apparel design and formed Kiwi Koats as an outlet for her design talents.

Kiwi Koats was created in 1998 when Belinda bought an industrial sewing machine and began to import quality sheepskin. From her garage workshop she designed and created sheepskin coats, jackets, hat and mittens. She soon had a web site built and began to sell her original designs online.

The site generated international interest from both consumers and top quality manufacturers. Later, by contracting with manufacturers from Turkey and India to make Kiwi Koats products, she was able to put an end to her garage shop and devote more time to designing and building her business.

With the success of Kiwi Koats, Belinda expanded her line, adding clothing and accessories and named her new business Belinda M Designs. Originally consisting of a selection of suede jackets, full-length dresses, skirts, pants and full-length coats, Belinda M Designs now includes all of her specialized lines including:

In 2001 Belinda brought all of the lines together and opened Belinda M Designs Boutique in thriving downtown Walnut Creek, CA. Daring to be different, her charming and stylishly eclectic store was an instant hit and has been featured in several local and national publications.

The Micinelli Collection consists of purses, overnight bags, Doctors’ bags, and several small items, all made from saddle leather and imported from Florence, Italy directly to Belinda’s store.

Belinda M Bags is her latest line, a collection of 21 different handbag styles which combine lasting quality and high style. The bags have quickly become favorites of her customers and inspire a must-have reaction. These items are sold both retail and wholesale.

Belinda has plans in the works to continue her expansion by creating a men’s line called Harry Barrington and a children’s line called Bubstuff. Keep an eye out for these two new lines as well as new items featured in the other design lines.
